If there has been one positive outcome of the COVID pandemic, it is the widespread acknowledgement that we can no longer pursue the path of limitless economic growth. Disregards for social context and even more so the environment are what have made the virus and its rapid spread across the globe possible. The triple bottom line emerged as a concept in the early 90s, advocating the need to balance economic performance with social and environmental impact. While its acceptance is spreading rapidly, not least accelerated by the current global crisis, is considering the triple bottom line truly enough to achieve the transformation that we require? If not, what else is needed? These are questions that Bettina and Dorothea will discuss.
This fireside chat between Bettina von Stamm and Dorothea Ernst was delivered at the 32nd ISPIM Innovation Conference on 21 June 2021.
