The aim of this SIG is to foster a collaborative platform that drives systemic innovation in the ocean and water sectors.

Catalyzing ocean-positive innovation for a resilient and sustainable future

The Blue Economy is rapidly gaining global attention as a vital frontier for innovation, sustainability, and inclusive growth. From ocean technologies to aquatic food systems, maritime solutions, and climate-resilient infrastructures, the Blue Economy offers untapped potential for addressing some of the world’s most pressing challenges—including biodiversity loss, coastal resilience, and sustainable livelihoods.

The ISPIM SIG on Blue Economy and Innovation brings together researchers, innovators, entrepreneurs, investors, and policymakers to co-create transformative solutions at the intersection of science, technology, and sustainability.
